WHAT WE DO
Free Legal Aid & Representation
Provide free legal information, counselling and representation before courts and administrative bodies for people who cannot afford a lawyer, in civil and administrative cases.
Key Programme Activities
- Operation of legal aid desks in Tirana and other regions, and mobile legal aid in remote communities.
- Preparation and follow-up of approximately 200 court cases per year, plus hundreds of administrative procedures.
- Legal support for:
- property rights, including execution of ECtHR and domestic judgments;
- access to social protection, health care, education, housing and other essential services;
- reintegration of prisoners, probationers and returnees from conflict zones.
- Selection and litigation of strategic cases that can set precedents and address structural problems (civil registration, discrimination, property, child protection, etc.).
Prioritise complex cases involving:
- persons at risk of statelessness or without documents;
- children and families facing violence, exploitation or separation;
- persons deprived of liberty or under probation;
- extremely poor households and other marginalised groups.
